Cookie Notice
Last updated: August 28, 2026
This Cookie Notice explains how Little Hugs (“Little Hugs”, “we”, “us” or “our”) uses cookies and similar technologies on the littlehugs.com website and any other website that we own or control and which posts or links to this Cookie Notice (collectively, the “Sites”). Little Hugs is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies serve different purposes, like helping us understand how a site is being used, letting you navigate between pages efficiently, remembering your preferences, and generally improving your browsing experience.
Our Sites use both session cookies, which expire once you close your web browser, and persistent cookies, which stay on your device until you delete them.
What types of cookies do we use?
| Type | Description | Who serves them | How to control them |
|---|---|---|---|
| Essential | Required for the technical operation of the site. This includes the WordPress session and security cookies, the page optimization used to keep the site fast, and the pcc_consent cookie that records your cookie choice so we do not ask again on every page. | Little Hugs (first party) | These cannot be switched off through the banner because the site will not function without them. You can block or delete them in your browser settings. |
| Shop and donations | Set when you add an item to your cart, check out, or make a donation, so that your cart and your order are remembered as you move through the site. Without them the shop and the donation form cannot work. | WooCommerce and GiveWP, running on our own server (first party) | These are necessary to complete a purchase or donation and are not switched off by the banner. Blocking them in your browser will prevent checkout from working. |
| Payments | When you pay, you are handed to PayPal to complete the transaction. PayPal sets its own cookies on its own domain and receives the payment details you enter there. We never see or store your card number. | PayPal. Privacy policy at https://www.paypal.com/us/legalhub/privacy-full | Set by PayPal on its own domain, so our banner cannot remove them. They only apply if you choose to pay. |
| Functionality | Set when you submit a contact or enquiry form, to retain your entries and to guard against automated and duplicate submissions. | Gravity Forms, running on our own server (first party) | Browser settings. Blocking them may prevent forms from submitting. |
| Analytics | Google Analytics measures which pages are viewed and how visitors move through the site, so we can see what people are looking for. It sets cookies beginning with _ga, along with _gat and _gid. | Google. Privacy policy at https://policies.google.com/privacy | Decline through our cookie banner, or use Google’s opt-out browser add-on. |
Other technologies and third parties
The site loads web fonts and icons in order to display text and graphics as designed. These do not set advertising cookies, but your IP address is transmitted to those providers in order to deliver the files.
Our Instagram posts are shown on the site from a copy stored on our own server. Viewing them does not contact Instagram and does not set Instagram cookies. Clicking a post takes you to Instagram, where their own privacy policy applies.
The site is protected and delivered through the Sucuri website firewall, which processes request data including IP address for security filtering. Sucuri’s privacy policy is at https://sucuri.net/privacy-policy/.
Website hosting and maintenance are provided by 561 Media Inc, which has access to server data including web server logs.
How can I control cookies?
A consent banner appears on your first visit. You may accept or decline. Declining stops the Google analytics cookies from being set and deletes any that are already present. The cookies needed to run the shop, the donation form and the checkout are part of how those functions work and are not covered by the banner. You can reopen the banner and change your choice at any time using the Cookie Preferences link in the site footer.
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. If you disable cookies entirely, parts of the site may not function.
